Welcome

Welcome to techtransalp.co.uk an on-line resource for the Honda XL650V Transalp.

Ran by and for UK Transalp owners, we welcome all visitors worldwide who appreciate what Honda's middleweight is all about.

There are few bikes on the market that are as capable as a Honda Transalp in most real world situations.

They'll commute, scratch, tour, pootle & explore remote areas on small poorly surfaced roads, hammer along to the local bike meet, deal with city traffic, go shopping, handle dirt roads, be taken up mountains or travel to far flung continents all with supreme ability.

They are also FUN, composed, comfortable and neutral handling with no annoying traits.

Of course, being a Honda  it will do all of the above for tens and tens of thousands of miles, reliably, trouble free and with a minimum of maintenance.

Having been in production for nearly twenty years they are well proven, reliable, durable, well made are cheap to insure, comfortable, have a good tank range and good fuel economy.

What other bikes offer that !?

THE LONGEST DAY
THE PATH OF GENGHIS KHAN

Cyril Ducau (Honda Transalp) and Niccolo Manno (BMW GS1200) have embarked on an 18,000km adventure crossing more than 20 countries in 3 months before arriving in Hong Kong.
Check out their travel blog : eurasianmotorcycleadventure.blogspot.com

Swedish Transalp rider, Akira, has completed his ride for a bit of an adventure. He's rode over half way around the world to visit his Grandmother in Japan, if the taste of adventure is still strong enough after that enormous trip, then there's the return trip.

RIDING FROM SWEDEN TO JAPAN

One of xrv.org.uk 's well respected forum members, 'severs', bought his 2000 model Transalp when it was a year old. In the last six years his mileage has gone around the clock and then some.
"I don't want to jinx myself, but it has never broken down, never had a puncture, never failed to start, and has steadfastly returned the same fuel mileage practically all its life."
"I'd be happy to do a reliability report, except that it would be desperately boring reading, TA's are bulletproof if you look after them".

120,000 MILES AND STILL GOING STRONG

Here's one of our bikes which has recently been completed after it's Winter 're-build'. Helped (or hindered) by six year old daughter, the Transalp has been raised by 50mm at both ends, its fitted with an Africa Twin sump guard, a recovered seat in Blue and features a paint design based on the original 1987 Transalp 600.

AROUND THE WORLD ON TRANSALPS

Mick and Martin are planning on clocking up a few miles on their Honda Transalps. These seriously kitted out bikes, prepared by Overland Solutions, are looking ready to tackle the world.
Martin also took part in the 2007 Bike Aid Challenge, raising money for the Chernobyl Children’s Project (UK).
